Description:
Our Week by Week language classes are open for students who want to stay and study Chinese for an extended period of time. These classes are for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced learners. After class, we also free volunteering or language exchange in the afternoon.
For beginners our aim is to help give them the basic Chinese language skills they need to more fully enjoy and experience their time in China. Knowing basic Chinese will not only enable them to do simple tasks but will also give them the confidence and skills they need to interact with Chinese people on a daily basis. Intermediate or advanced students will learn more about Chinese usage and pick up nuances of language usage with other students in this program or with language exchange partners. To ensure the best possible student-teacher interaction classes are limited to a maximum 3 students.
Our work led us to be selected as a Top 10 Program by the US State Department and the Center for Citizen Diplomacy in 2010.
Highlights:
In addition to our fantastic location, Minds Abroad's Week by Week program offers an unprecedented value for its students. Classes for beginners begin on the first Monday of every month. Intermediate and advanced students can feel free to join the first Monday of any week. We also offer one-on-one tutoring sessions after class. Additionally, after class, we also free volunteering or language exchange in the afternoon.
In this program, students will study Mandarin, including pinyin, tones, pronunciation and so on. Students themselves can decide how long to study. With this program students can transfer credits back to their home university. If you want to transfer credits back please let us know during application.
Students are taught by teachers with several years of experience teaching Chinese to international students. Best of all, you can start studying with us on any Monday throughout the year and continue for as long as your schedule permits. With our program you can have full time class, all three meals a day and housing in a private room of a shared apartment for just USD 398/week(from September through May).
Kunming's surrounding areas of Yunnan are full of diverse natural and cultural wonders like tropical forests, Himalayan peaks, ancient pagodas and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. Yunnan also has 25 ethnic minorities, from Thais in the tropical south to Tibetans in the Himalayan peaks of the north. Even more amazing is that Yunnan is just an overnight bus or train ride from 5 nearby Southeast Asian countries (Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia) and 3 of China's top locations (Guilin, Sichuan and Tibet). This means that Minds Abroad students can study Chinese language during the week and explore Yunnan and its nearby provinces and countries on the weekends and vacations.
In 2010, Minds Abroad was selected as a Top 10 Program by the US State Department and the Center for Citizen Diplomacy. Please email us or visit our website for more details on our programs and costs.
