Description:
Ali Baba International Center is an international organization established exclusively to give people, of different ages and nationalities, the opportunity to learn and live the Arabic language and culture in a relatively short period of time. We organize three types of programs: intensive summer programs, regular semester programs, and special programs.
A. Intensive Summer Programs
An intensive summer program is a package consisting of the followings: a 1-month long intensive Arabic language course, a comfortable accommodation, and a weekly tour to a touristic site in Jordan. Four 1-month sessions are offered every year: in June, in July, in August and in September. This is in addition to a 2-month regular summer session lasting from mid-June to mid-August. Ali Baba International Center will organize in the summer of 2007 a total of five Arabic language summer sessions: four intensive 1-month long sessions, and one regular 2-month long sessions.
A1. Four Intensive 1-Month Sessions
Ali Baba International Center will organize four 1-month intensive sessions in the summer of 2007: one session in June, one in July, one in August and one in September. In each session, elementary, intermediate and advanced classes can be opened to meet the
demands of people having different backgrounds in Arabic. A placement test will be given to the registered students before the start of the course to determine the level and accordingly the appropriate class they should enroll in. Please note that a class of any level will be opened provided that the enrollment in that class reaches at least six students. Finally, a typical 1-month intensive summer class meets four hours and a half per day, five days per week, for a total of 90 contact hours.
A2. One Regular 2-Month Session
In addition to the four 1-month sessions mentioned above, Ali Baba International Center offers one regular 2-month summer session during the period June 12, 2007 to August 5, 2007. All levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced will be offered. A placement test will be given to the registered students before the start of the course to determine the level and accordingly the appropriate class they should enroll in. In principle, and due to the high expected enrollment, classes of all levels will be opened. However, the average
number of students in one class will be much higher than the average student enrollment in the 1-month intensive classes. Classes may have 15 or more students in average. Finally, a typical 2-month regular summer class meets three hours per day, five days per week, for a total of 120 contact hours.
B. Regular Programs
A regular program is a package consisting of the followings: a 4-month long Arabic language course, a comfortable accommodation, and a weekly tour to a tourist site in Jordan. All levels are offered: elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. In principle, the courses are offered twice a year: in the fall semester ( October to January) and the spring semester (February to May). Students may also apply for the Arabic courses given during the two-month summer semester ( June to August). Students wishing to study for one whole year can cover three consecutive levels of Arabic.
C. Special Programs
A special program is a package consisting of the followings: a specialized course in Arabic or a middle eastern or Islamic field; a hotel accommodation and meals, and tours around Jordan if desired. The specialized courses are tailored to meet the needs of individuals or groups working in fields like diplomacy, business, culture and others, and therefore may vary in their contents, durations, time of offering, and cost.
All courses are taught at the University of Jordan; the oldest and most prestigious university in Jordan. Experienced multilingual Jordanian teachers with solid teaching experience and training will be responsible for teaching the Arabic courses for non-native speakers. The language courses are supplemented by cultural and social activities, and weekly guided-tours to the major tourist attractions of Jordan. Participants in the programs will also be encouraged to meet and interact with people everywhere, immersing them in the every fabric of the Jordanian society , gaining for themselves an insider's view of Jordanians lives.
Aside from the academic language programs described above, the Ali Baba International Center offers the following two services; tourists programs and Arabic translation services:
