Description:
Many of the orphans have come from homes of domestic violence; many of them don't have relatives. Poverty now days leaves many children abandoned. Orphanages in Peru provide orphans with daily meals, a bed and schooling, but they need people to give them attention, time and love.
Depending on your own skills and interests, volunteers are required to work at a range of orphanages and social service placements in Peru. The work will be very varied and creative - involving teaching, playing with the children, running many types of craft activities, administration, sports, teaching English, teaching what you know. The program is developed in the afternoons while Spanish lessons are taken in the mornings.
We offer Spanish lessons and cultural activities as a cross-cultural experience. Our school will immerse you in the Peruvian culture. Let us show you our customs, our typical meals, our beautiful country. Live with a Peruvian family and make new friends. The family environ and our day-to-day Spanish courses + the volunteering program create a unique learning atmosphere.
Highlights:
Social and Cultural Activities:
We encourage our students to be involve in the Peruvian daily life and to participate in local events for meeting local people and improving actively their Spanish. To make this purpose real, we have added to our Spanish programs the possibility to volunteer in an orphanage, to take cultural lessons and to visit places and villages.
Cultural Events: such as native dance and Peruvian cooking lessons, weaving lessons, panflute lessons also attendance to work shops of recognized regional artists will supply an enormous opportunity to enrich students' experience as well to introduce them to our culture.
Outdoor Practices: Outdoor practices are monitored field trips to popular markets, museums, craft villages, with the purpose to offer to our students not only the opportunity to improve the new language and to familiarize them to our customs and way of life but also to advise and teach them the kind of general cautions they have to take during their journey in South America.
Our commitment is, from the first day on, that you learn to face daily practical situations using our language without fear. The lessons therefore are given in Spanish by native speakers. That's also why we offer you a family stay, voluntary work possibilities and a unique opportunity to participate in activities (field trips) scheduled on week days.
Field trips are monitored by an instructor and involves hiking trips or short bus trips to nearby ruins, villages, craft markets and local artist workshops. These activities are scheduled three times per week. Also we include a one full day trekking guided excursion at the end of the course.
You'll receive Spanish lessons according to your current level. By giving you an assessment examination, both oral and written, we test your current level.
